Biography
Kevin was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. Kevin's gift is sure. Born the son of a preacher, Kevin like most preachers' kids began singing in the choir. While it was a joy for him to sing, he would always find himself drawn to the drums, piano or organ, after church services were over. One day he heard a saxophone played in church, and from that point on, he was hooked.
Over the years he's studied some of the top saxophonists in the world, but interestingly has patterned his sound after singers. His style is not Jazz or R&B, but rather it is a smooth, soothing and healing sound, which has been cultivated by his strong Christian faith, church background, and a rich prayer life.
Kevin has worked with or been the opening act for Steve Fry, Kim Burrell, Ron Brown, Kirk Whalum, Edwin Hawkins, Daryl Coley, Smokie Norful and numerous others.
Kevin has played throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the U.S., at various Christian conventions, conferences, seminars and workshops such as: Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Young Life's Urban Ministry Conference, Promise Keepers' Spanish Chapter events, MFA Of Burger King Corp, Black Expo Gospel Showcase and more. In the summer of 2002, Kevin traveled to London England on a fifteen-day tour.
In August of 2003 Kevin was selected as one of the artists to be featured on CD Sampler #14, which was produced by Clear Channel's jazz powerhouse station in San Francisco, KKSF. The CD that benefits Aids relief, would typically feature only mainstream jazz artists, but this time the door was open for local artists. Kevin's song "Can I Testify?" was chosen and now stands as just that... a testimony of what God can do. He has released a CD of traditional Gospel hymns entitled, "The Old Rugged Cross", and his most recent project entitled, "Every Breath We Take" which has a little bit of something for everyone.
Kevin has been happily married for over 15 years to his loving wife Lisa. Kevin says that there is no other place he would rather be outside of heaven, than in her arms. Kevin has been blessed with three outstanding kids,Sierra,Isaiah and Taylor.
There is no question that this young man is well on his way to becoming one of the top saxophonists of our day. Kevin plays from his heart and it is from his heart that he will... Testify .
